DynaLite 2-Person Backpacking Tent

You don't belong to one sport. You belong to the feeling: boots moving before dawn, cold air against your face, and the last climb before camp. The DynaLite is a two-person, three-season backpacking tent for the miles between the trailhead and that moment. It gives two hikers their own door, a vestibule on each side, and room to settle in without turning every exit into a negotiation.

At a listed minimum trail weight of 3 lb 8 oz for the tent body, rainfly and poles, it is built with the walk in mind. The full packed weight is 3 lb 15 oz, including stakes, guy lines, repair kit and compression bag. It packs to 16 x 4.5 inches, a compact shape to plan around when every pocket and strap on your pack has a job. The freestanding, single-pole frame uses color-coded clips to make the setup sequence easier to follow when daylight is fading.

Inside, the tapered floor measures 84 inches long and 51 inches wide at the head, narrowing to 43 inches at the foot, with a 41-inch peak height. Five internal mesh pockets, two side pockets and an overhead hook give the small essentials a place of their own. The mesh body encourages airflow and opens up the view when conditions let you leave the rainfly off. When you need the fly, its full-coverage design, taped seams and coated 20D ripstop nylon offer a more considered barrier against rain. Weather can change quickly; always choose your campsite and use the tent according to conditions.

Why You'll Love It

  • Two doors, less disruption. Each camper can get in and out from their own side, whether one is turning in early or stepping out at sunrise.
  • Two vestibules for trail gear. The pair of 7.3-square-foot vestibules gives packs and boots designated space outside the sleeping area.
  • A carry weight worth noticing. The 3 lb 8 oz minimum trail weight keeps the tent body, fly and poles in focus when you're planning your load.
  • A clear path to camp. The freestanding, single-pole frame and color-coded clips simplify the setup routine after a long approach.
  • Small-item order. Mesh pockets, side pockets and an overhead hook help keep a headlamp or other essentials easy to find.
  • Airflow when the night allows it. The mesh body gives you ventilation and an open view; add the full-coverage rainfly when conditions call for it.

Imagine It In Your Element

The light drops behind the ridgeline as you reach camp. Your shoulders feel the day's miles. You pull the DynaLite from its bag, match the color-coded clips and raise the single-pole frame. One pack goes by each vestibule; inside, the headlamp goes where you can find it again. There is no grand speech, just the quiet satisfaction of having a place to stop.

Or picture the tent back in your gear room, dry and packed for the next route. The map is open. You check the forecast, sort the stakes and guy lines, and make room in your pack for the 16 x 4.5-inch bundle. The next trip has not begun, but you can already feel the trail underfoot. Every rush starts somewhere.
